Mary Hunn, Director of School Food and Nutrition Services & Organizational Management Advisor


Mary brings to the DL team over 25 years of wide-ranging experience providing child nutrition and organizational leadership expertise in many areas. She has worked in both public and private sectors with schools, centers, government agencies, businesses, organizations, and other groups.
Mary’s background in school nutrition began in 1990 when she joined the food and nutrition division of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Over the next 15 years, she experienced a broad range of leadership, management, coordination, and specialist roles in all areas of child nutrition as a supervisor, project manager, and program specialist.  
 
Mary joined our DL team in 2005 as our Director of School Food and Nutrition providing a vast array of consulting services to public and private schools and other organizations.
In 2007, she became a co-founder of Done Right Food Services, a school and event catering company, and Karet Enterprises, doing business as Filfillah Mediterranean Grill Restaurant. For over 10 years, she was a business owner and the Chief Executive Officer of both companies that offer a wide range of services to numerous programs and hundreds of clients.
Mary also served on the founding board of a new charter school as the school board chairperson for three years, as well as providing assistance to other school boards and leadership staff of various institutions and organizations.
 
She has comprehensive knowledge and experience in government school nutrition programs administration, food service operations, and organizational business management. She provides comprehensive planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring expertise. She conducts thorough assessments and provides education and technical assistance in all the above areas, as well as contributes project management expertise using business-oriented approaches to developing improved programs, processes, and systems.
 
She has been a Registered Dietitian for over 30 years after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she held a variety of community and clinical nutrition positions in local clinics and hospitals before embarking on her long-held passion to help children and schools in the best possible ways.
